Party crashers

Steph was convinced that the area around Crystal River Florida had enough to see to keep us busy for quite awhile so she found us a spot at an RV park in the metropolis (not) of Inglis FL.  After our meh campground in Carabelle I did not have high hopes.  We’d probably be paying top dollar to be packed in like sardines on a giant concrete parking lot with crappy wifi and a pool thats closed or too cold.  But Steph nailed it!!  The area had LOTS to do, the campground was cheaper than a state park, had full hookups, a nice pool we used a lot, wifi that was useable (not superb), and HUGE grassy sites with lots of room between rigs.

Most of the people here spend the entire winter at the park and have for several years.  So there is quite a community at the park.  We constantly saw groups of people sitting around just shootin the breeze.  So it was this evening while we were eating dinner.  We saw that our next door neighbors were the party hosts and that they had a fire going.  I told the kids we should go over and ask if we can use the fire to roast marshmallows.  Now if just I showed up uninvited at a bonfire with a bag of marshmallows I’d probably have the cops called on me for party crashing.  But with three cute kids in tow I was golden.  Plus, it turned out that most of them already knew the kids because they’d met them at the little dog run area (the kids would hang out there to meet and play with all the dogs at the park).

The people were so nice and were happy that we came over.  They asked about our trip and my work and they suggested we check out Rainbow Springs State Park.  We had a great time hanging out with this group of folks that were from all over the US but come to Florida for the winter.

I was a little worried that the clientele at the park would not be too happy about having kids around, but my worries were for nothing.  The people here seemed to really enjoy having the kids around.  It was neat to see the community at this park and to be invited into the community during our brief stay.  We enjoyed the facilities and the kids especially liked the pool.

This RV park was heaven compared to the last one!!! Almost anything would be, but this really was very nice. The trees, the grass, the quiet (no hwy noise), the pool, the people. Maybe it was not perfect, but we could finally breathe again. And the other people were so incredibly nice.
