The two boys and I just went and saw the new Star Wars movie…in 3D!!  Last time I was in a movie theater was 2 years ago when the family went and saw Frozen (we actually went RV shopping afterward).  And although I spent several months writing software to automate the setup of 3D projectors I have never seen a 3D movie before today….Jan 1, 2016…with my two favorite boys.  It was amazing.  Great story.  Great effects.  Great acting (for Star Wars).  As thrilling as the movie was though, what was more thrilling was when I would look over at the boys and soak in the awesomeness of getting to see this movie with my sons.

This morning, like 99% of Friday mornings for the past 20 years I had coffee with my brother.  Janie’s, our normal crank shop, was closed for new years day so we went to Winchells.  We never have a shortage of things to talk about and today revolved around how stressed I am right now with trip preparation.  As usual, my big brother spoke wisdom and encouragement to me.  That’s who he is….the caring, supportive and encouraging one…he’s your biggest fan!

Brielle crawled onto my lap this afternoon and asked me to tell her a story about when I was a kid.  She is so sweet and kind and cuddly.  Like her uncle, she is the caring and encouraging one.  I needed that little nugget of time with her today.

And then there is my dear angel Stephanie.  Three years ago she agreed reluctantly to go on this adventure and today she left this comment on this post “Thank you in advance for suggesting this trip, and for giving us the opportunity to challenge/grow/expand our horizons”.  I’m the luckiest man alive!!

Hang in there with me I’m getting to my point!  Going in I had no idea what the story of the new Star Wars movie was.  And honestly it could have taken any number of directions and twists and had different endings and it still would have been fantastic.  Because what made the movie for me was seeing the old gang…Han, Leia, Chewie, R2D2, C-3PO and….well, I won’t spoil it for you.  It was the people (and droids) you know and care about.  And its the new ones you meet along the way.  I’m so thankful for all the awesome people in my life…how ever my story plays out it will be epic because of the amazing people in my story.
