{"id":224,"date":"2016-01-22T20:58:35","date_gmt":"2016-01-22T20:58:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thewachs.com\/wachsacrossamerica\/?p=224"},"modified":"2016-02-10T13:46:18","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T13:46:18","slug":"splash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thewachs.com\/wachsacrossamerica\/2016\/01\/22\/splash\/","title":{"rendered":"Splash!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a couple days of <a href=\"http:\/\/thewachs.com\/wachsacrossamerica\/2016\/01\/21\/free-fall\/\">free fall<\/a> we splashed down into our first day! \u00a0My steering wheel is a little skinnier from squeezing it so tight. \u00a0It took much longer than we expected. \u00a0We used a lot of diesel. \u00a0But we made it to our first stop (just an overnight) and set up our house. \u00a0And get this, NO PROBLEMS!! \u00a0God is good.<\/p>\n<p>It was a hectic morning trying to get ready. \u00a0After hitching up we gave the Ryplewskis a big hug and rolled away. \u00a0We could NOT have done this without Eric \u00a0and Alyssa&#8217;s\u00a0kindness, generosity, experience, tools, watchful eyes, lessons and prayers. \u00a0We stopped in Colorado Springs to say goodbye to Baba and Zedo (Huck&#8217;s parents&#8230;that is Slovak for grandma and grandpa). \u00a0Then we stopped in Pueblo for a bite to eat and Ava played with the big boys&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/Dn5a8W\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1481\/24523658016_c8ffbd991c_z.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160122_143255150\" width=\"640\" height=\"359\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yeah, I&#8217;m over the line but it was my first solo back in job and the dude in the truck on Ava&#8217;s right said &#8220;no problem, yer fine&#8221;. \u00a0But just as we were getting in the truck\u00a0to leave a trucker shoe horned himself into the little space I left&#8230;.I think he was either showing off or teaching me a lesson for playing with the big boys.<\/p>\n<p>We were passing passenger vehicles on Raton pass&#8230;bogged down the last couple miles where it gets steep and I got behind a slow moving semi. \u00a0And we rolled into our destination in the dark (not ideal for our first time setting up by ourselves). \u00a0But we did it! \u00a0One day down, 159 more days of adventure still to enjoy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a couple days of free fall we splashed down into our first day! \u00a0My steering wheel is a little skinnier from squeezing it so tight. \u00a0It took much longer than we expected. \u00a0We used a lot of diesel. \u00a0But we made it to our first stop (just an overnight) and set up our house.
