{"id":1011,"date":"2016-03-11T00:42:28","date_gmt":"2016-03-11T00:42:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thewachs.com\/wachsacrossamerica\/?p=1011"},"modified":"2016-03-24T01:01:23","modified_gmt":"2016-03-24T01:01:23","slug":"moving-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thewachs.com\/wachsacrossamerica\/2016\/03\/11\/moving-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Moving day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another in the <a href=\"http:\/\/thewachs.com\/wachsacrossamerica\/tag\/life-on-the-move\/\">Life on the Move<\/a> series. \u00a0Today we have a look at moving day.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we&#8217;re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths &#8212; Walt Disney<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Sir Movealot<\/strong><\/em> &#8212; We move a lot. \u00a0More than I&#8217;d like. \u00a0But we have a short amount of time and want to cover a lot of ground. \u00a0So, we typically stay at a place for 3-4 nights. \u00a0Moving takes a fair amount of work, time and diesel fuel. \u00a0We are starting to get the hang of it and <a href=\"http:\/\/thewachs.com\/wachsacrossamerica\/2016\/03\/09\/shortest-travel-day-ever\/\">proved just recently<\/a> that we can pack up and pack down (the opposite of packing up?) in about 30 minutes each. \u00a0Everybody has their set of jobs they do to get ready. \u00a0We have a checklist by the door which began\u00a0as a short list from the previous owner but has grown each time we&#8217;ve made a mistake and forgotten something. \u00a0The kids mostly take care of the bunkhouse and its bathroom. \u00a0Steph takes care of readying the rest of the inside except the table and chairs which Dacen is responsible for. \u00a0I&#8217;m in charge of outside: \u00a0kitchen, stabilizers, water, power and bikes. \u00a0Loading\u00a0the bikes is a royal pain. \u00a0Its a puzzle trying to get them to fit and get them all cinched down on the back of the rig. \u00a0If we were\u00a0going full time I would likely do the roof rack on the truck like we&#8217;ve seen others do. \u00a0Kids take turns running the slides. \u00a0Caden runs the front landing gear while Steph helps me with the hitch. \u00a0I&#8217;m in charge of dumping the tanks and I usually drive while Steph runs the classroom. \u00a0We all agree that moving days are the toughest, but the reward has always been awesome!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here is a video of us getting ready to travel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x7xa1QdAbII\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" align=\"middle\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nAnd here is what it looks like when we set up.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a8ZYvVC2dMQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" align=\"middle\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here is what Jesus had to say about traveling with your bed (ha ha)&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Jesus said to him, \u201cGet up, take up your bed, and walk.\u201d &#8212; John 5:8<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And I also like what Einstein has to say about staying on the move&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Life is like riding a bicycle.
